Featuring a new series of works, the exhibition will highlight a recent development in Takreti’s painting style as he enters the second phase of his twenty-year oeuvre. Silence 5 - 29 Nov 2012From the 5 to the 29 November, Ayyam Gallery DIFC will present, ‘Silence’ a solo exhibition of Syrian artist Khaled Takreti. Departing from his usual heavily saturated candy coloured canvases, a subdued palette of sepia and grey tones and stark backgrounds render this body of work more engaging as the viewer is able to quietly impose onto the world of these silent characters. In many of the portraits there is an almost palpable loneliness, yet there is no sense of weakness in Takreti’s characters. They stare directly at the viewer, almost challenging him to ponder over the internal thoughts lying behind their detached facades.Read more -

Black vs Colour
16 Oct - 30 Nov 2008Ayyam Gallery, Dubai has gathered some of Syria's finest contemporary names from its formidable stable of artists for a group exhibition which will feature a vast variety of media. Some of the artists express themselves in shades of black and white, while others opt for colour. The show is an expression of both and will include paintings and photographs that cover different subjects, styles and techniques, all drawing on colour or monochrome. The six artists on show will be Khaled Takreti, Safwan Dahoul, Nassouh Zaghlouleh, Ammar Al-Beik, Asaad Arabi, and Youssef Abdelke.
