From May 19 - July 31, Ayyam Gallery, Dubai (Al Quoz) will present R-Evolution, a group exhibition providing an unprecedented look into the complex relationship of art and politics before and after the various uprisings throughout the Middle East and North Africa.
Featuring paintings by Khaled Takreti, Sadik Al Fraji, Mohannad Orabi, Tammam Azzam, Elias Izoli, Mouteea Murad, Kais Salman, Nihad Al Turk, Oussam Diab, Abdul Karim Majdal Al Beik, and Ammar Al Beik, and photographs by Lara Atallah and Nassough Zaghlouleh, R-Evolution explores how artists of the region have addressed the explosive nature of today’s sociopolital sphere. Often altering their artistic approaches and reoccurring subject matter, these artists are challenged in their portrayal of the manic instability of their cities and landscapes, which have been overrun by domestic upheavals.
