Rula Halawani will participate in She Who Tells a Story: Contemporary Photography from Iran & the Arab World at the National Museum of Women in the Arts, Washington DC; and a day-long colloquium on Photography and Human Rights at New York University.
The groundbreaking exhibition She Who Tells a Story features over eighty works by leading Middle Eastern female artists, the largest survey of Arab and Iranian women photographers to tour the US. Organized by the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, the exhibition opens on 8 April and runs until 31 July, and was previously hosted by the Carnegie Museum of Art, Pittsburgh.
New York University’s Photography and Human Rights on 4 April delves into the history of human rights photography by hosting an array of international photographers and scholars. Halawani’s lecture, Human Rights Through My Experience & Photographs in Palestine will delve into her life under occupation and how this affects her photography.
