Farzad Kohan’s Love, Lover, Repeat (2015) was recently acquired by the Los Angeles County Museum of Art in the United States. The emerald green, mixed-media painting belongs to the artist’s Love Letters, a series that explores the many stages of love—from desire and passion to longing and loss—with text-based abstract compositions. Rendered in Kohan’s methodical painting style, the work was shown in ADVOCARTSY's ART BRIEF II: Iranian Contemporary North America at Arena 1 Gallery in Santa Monica, California earlier this year.
Love, Lover, Repeat will be incorporated into the museum’s holdings as part of its curatorial focus on Islamic art, a robust collection that contains contemporary examples from the Middle East and North Africa, including works by Lalla Essaydi, Susan Hefuna, and Mona Hatoum.
