Sama Alshaibi is speaking at the Society for Photographic Education (SPE) 55th Annual Conference, Uncertain Times: Borders, Refuge, Community, Nationhood, which addresses questions of globalisation, migration, territory, refuge, community, identity, nationalism, and internationalism. Furthermore evaluating the contribution of photographic practices, which seek to humanise and reveal these topics in moments of crisis as well as moments of resolve.
Alshaibi’s talk will focus on her Silsila series, a seven-year project probing the human dimensions of migration, borders, and environmental demise in the Middle East and North Africa. The talk will take place on Saturday, 3 March at 1pm, Grand Ballroom Salon H.
