We are pleased to announce that Sadik Alfraji’s work is exhibited at the 5th Paltz Biennale in Soest.
During the Biennale, Alfraji will present both an animation and a large drawing.
In the animation, there is a walking donkey, which for Alfraji symbolizes many different things. For one, a memory of a donkey near where he grew up.
To boot, a more universal image, that a donkey, contrary to stereotype, is a wise and friendly animal.
He also refers to the donkey from George Orwell's book Animal Farm, which makes the painfully relevant statement:
'all animals are equal, but some are more equal than others'.
In addition, Alfraji made a large drawing of a tree, which has nestled among the existing trees of the Paltz.
In Arabic culture, the tree is an important concept, a universal symbol for life itself.
