Bassam Freiha Art Foundation is the first and only private art foundation in the Saadiyat Cultural District.
The Foundation's annex gallery features an exhibition titled Reclaiming Visions, which displays the photographic work of US-based Iraqi-Palestinian artist Sama Alshaibi, from her Carry Over series.
The Reclaiming Visions exhibition showcases Sama Alshaibi’s photographic works in a dialogue with 19th century Orientalist portrait photographs, which often depicted women with stylized props in imaginative studio arrangements, enhancing the exoticized idea of the Middle East for the Western audience.
