Khaled Jarrar’s video, BADminton, will be featured in Deconstructing Reality, a group exhibition curated by Marco Trulli and presented in Viterbo, Italy from 23-26 April 2015.
Through the video works of eight artists from the Mediterranean, the show proposes to analyse the impacts of art on politics in the region. At the same time, it dissects the mutation of an aesthetic visual narrative into a political statement. Known for his video recorded performative interventions, Jarrar takes the Apartheid wall in West Bank to the center stage of 'BADminton', in which he plays the racquet game with a fellow citizen posted on the opposite side of the wall. The interaction proves difficult and highlights the daily frustrations caused by the massive cement structure, which is often the subject of Jarrar’s activist work.
