Rula Halawani received an honourable mention at this year’s Moscow International Photo Awards for two of her photographic projects. Jerusalem Calling gathers nighttime images of the city’s streets, to which the artist includes black and white projections of Jerusalem’s vibrant atmosphere recorded between 1936 and 1948. In the second award-winning series of black and white landscapes, titled For My Father, Halawani hints at the impossibility of returning to a land that only remains alive in her memories.
