The nationals recent article highlights Sadik Kwaish Alfraji’s feature in the Beneath the Gaze of the Palms exhibition in Riyadh, part of the Common Grounds festival.
His work, The River That Was in the South, explores the migration journey of his family over generations. Through striking black-and-white drawings and video, he tells the story of his father’s move from rural southern Iraq to the slums of Baghdad, leaving behind a way of life rooted in the river that had sustained his family for centuries.
This thought-provoking piece is part of a broader exhibition that explores the cultural and historical connections between Iraq and Saudi Arabia.
The exhibition took place at Mega Studio, The Boulevard, Riyadh.
